Overview:
The MD36 range of interfaces is designed for applications where the need is for low power re-transmission. It simplifies the task of incorporating a piece of equipment into a larger-system which operates on a different transmission standard. The MD36 is a compact and robust unit which is easy to install in locations where space is restricted. The MD36/6 is used as an interface between a gyro compass or TMC (which provides a Step (S-Type) output of 24,35 or 50V DC) and receiving devices that require a digital input. There is an alignment facility on the unit to align the digital outout of the MD36/6 with the incoming heading signal. When suitably adjusted, the MD36/6 reads the Step (S-Type) input heading to within 0.166\u00b0 and re-transmits a digital NMEA protocol with no errors on RS422 and RS232 outputs.
