Description:
• Allows magnetic corrections to be programmed into a Digital Transmitting Magnetic Compass System or an Electromagnetic Compass System.
• Heading Stabilisation Filter damps fluctuations in heading data.
• Connects with the MARINE DATA MD97/8 Compass Sensor Interface.
• Programmed characteristics may be reviewed and changed at any time.
• NMEA 0183 based.
• Five-way control pad and backlit 16 character LCD display.
• Rugged, marinised aluminium alloy housing.
• Independently tested to IEC60945:2002 by TUV Product Service Ltd.

Overview:
The MARINE DATA MD93 Variation and Deviation Corrector provides the human interface for the MD97 Compass Sensor Interface. The MD97 Compass Sensor Interface processes the incoming magnetic heading signal from the Fluxgate Coil Sensor (MD52A or MD53A). The MD93 Variation and Deviation Corrector may be connected directly to the MD97 or it may optionally be connected by routing through the MARINE DATA MD94 Signal Junction Box and NMEA Buffer.

Special Features:
• Automatic Deviation Correction (ADC). A key feature for automatically obtaining magnetic coefficients of deviation correction.
• Manual Deviation Correction (MDC). Manual Deviation Correction is carried out using standard maritime methods of taking bearings of fixed terrestrial or celestial objects and comparing them with the readings of the compass.
• Variation Correction. This facility corrects the local magnetic variation for a vessel's particular location on earth. The value for local magnetic variation is entered using the MD93/8 and stored in the MD97.
• Heading Stabilisation Filter (HSF). This is a key feature for minimising unwanted fluctuations of the heading readabout of the compass system. The HSF may be adjusted in accordance with vessel dynamic characteristic.

Applications:
• The MD93 Variation and Deviation Corrector connects with the MD97 Compass Sensor Interface. This can be achieved either directly or through the MD94 Signal Junction Box. The MD93 configures the MD97 to account for:
• Local magnetic variation at your position on Earth.
• The magnetic deviation characteristics of the vessel.
• Unwanted heading fluctuations.
